Amber – Mini Dollfie Dream shoot

Amber, a MDD Mirai

Amber, a MDD Mirai

So I’ve already done a few figure posts, but I’ve yet to show of the apples of my eye, my Dollfies much. Time to showcase them a bit.

Up today is Mini Dollfie Dream Mirai from Volks.  I have named mine Amber, not because I think she is real, I just don’t like my dolls being all default so I always change their names and buy new outfits and such for them. To be honest, I get a bit creeped out by the people in the dollfie/bjd community who give their dolls big in depth stories and personalities, sexual preferences, likes and dislikes, and refer to their dolls as if they were ‘real’. So I really hope I do NOT give off that impression.

No offense to the people who do think that, it’s just it doesn’t float my boat. Anyway this is my blog and my opinion so if it offends, don’t look.

I love these dolls as I love my figures. Pretty objects to oogle.

Samurai Spirits Mina – Figure review

Absolutley stunnign Mina ~

Absolutely stunning Mina ~

Today I wanted to continue my reviews with my second fave figure, lovely Mina from Samurai Spirits. It was raining today which was disappointing, but I still wanted to do the shoot so I did it inside instead.

She was produced by Good Smile Company and was originally released in January 2007. She is discontinued now. She is 1/5 scale and stands at a mighty 11 inches / 30cm tall! She is one of those figures that has a lot of presence. You must be blind not to notice her.

The sculpt of this figure is astounding. The folds in the fabric, the dynamic pose, the motion in the hair and skirt and the detailing is just outstanding, she is an awe inspiring piece. The shading of her skin tones is drool worthy in person and her curvaceous body is to die for. Her paint is all very well done with no bleeding at the edges and there are no bad seam lines either.

Because she has most of her body exposed, Good Smile really needed to pull off a great sculpt and they did not disappoint. Her body is one of the most beautiful, curvaceous bodies I’ve ever seen on a figure. She looks very healthy and doesn’t appear too skinny. Her bod is perfect,

My desk

Isnt it lovely?

Isn't it lovely?

I love seeing it when people post their desks and stuff so I wanted to post mine! My figures on the desk are from left to right:

Tama Chan – Bottle Fairy
Cathy – Zeon Gundam Girl
Reikio – Earth Federation Gundam girl
Komaki – To Heart 2
Banana is a snack figure.
On top the screen is Maid Mikuru’s lurvley legs.

Also on the desk you can see my tomato Nohohon and a nodding tortoise made from polished coconut shells. Why? Because coconut crafts are cool that’s why.

Wallpaper is Taiga from Toradora. I got it from the ever wonderful Konachan.

Peace @ Pieces Nagi – Figure Review

Beautiful Nagi ~

Beautiful Nagi ~

Here today we have an old figure of mine, but she’s one of my faves and today my mini tripod came which I wanted to play with so I just HAD to review her.

She is Nagi from Peace @ Pieces, she’s a 1/8 scale pvc figure by Good Smile Company. She measures in at a healthy 8inches/20cm tall and is a beautiful piece. She was originally released in September 2005 but has been long discontinued. A super addition to any collection, but would be hard to come by today. Secondhand market only I would imagine.

Anime calendar is here

Front cover ~

Front cover ~

Remember the anime calendar I spoke about earlier on in the week

well now it’s here! Actually, it arrived on Friday, I just didn’t take pics to review it until now.

I must say I really am 100% satisfied with the quality of the calendar. The paper is nice thick semi glossy paper just like on expensive shop brought calendars. The colours are very vibrant and the text is crisp. The images have been really well printed and just look superb. They even came with professional looking spiral binding! I wasn’t expecting that at all.

I really can’t fault the service. The delivered within 48 hours as they said they would and they were really well packed. I was worried about them arriving crumpled from the post, but they were sent in thick strong cardboard sleeves so they couldn’t be bent or damaged in transit. Marvelous!

The company who printed this for me can be found at Fileprint and I personally would recommend them to anyone. I got two very high quality custom made a4 calendars for just £7.02 and in my mind it was money well spent.

Images of the rest of the calendar behind the jump.

Kelly Osborne – Turning Japanese 01

Kelly Osborne – Turning Japanese is a show on itv where basically Kelly goes on a working holiday alone with no one other then tv crew and a translator to Japan. Her goal? To learn about japan, their traditions, their cultures and their lifestyles. I missed the show back in 2007 when it first aired so I’m watching it this time around. I’m not watching it for Kelly, but I was hoping that I too could learn something about Japan from watching the show.

Anime calendars

So it’s that time of year, everyone is pulling out the Christmas decorations and shops are selling cards and calendars already. Calendars are of interest to me at the moment. On visiting my fiance’s house yesterday, I discovered that his mum had brought him a hideous new calendar for 2009. After laughing like a lunatic for a while I then proclaimed ‘I’ll get you a better calendar!’ And so my journey began…

Piano – Averageish

Today I finished watching Piano. I was pretty excited about this anime and I almost brought it a year or so ago. I was excited because the people who worked on it were director Norihiko Sudo (DIRECTOR: COMIC PARTY), Kosuke Fujishima (Character designs for OH MY GODDESS! / SAKURA WARS) and Junichi Higashi as art director (MIDORI DAYS / AI YORI AOSHI Those are all series that I have previously enjoyed which is why I was excited.

To be honest I was dissapointed, it wasn’t a bad anime, but it just felt somewhat lacking.

Magical Meido?

No, not really magical, but is a Maid none the less.

*Meido beamu*

*Meido beamu >o< *

Doll is named Amber, she’s my Mini Dollfie dream Mirai. She has such a cute happy face, she always makes me smile. Looks like Henrietta and the Pinky gang are gossiping ^-^;\

I have a sense of pride and achievment with Amber, because I removed her default face and painted new details myself. Customising a doll really makes it ‘your own’ its a nice geeky feeling.
